Sharp Nurses Must Wait Until Thursday for Contract Details (61.77K)
Sharp HealthCare union nurses will have to wait until Thursday to learn details of a proposed labor agreement reached over the weekend by the nurses union and hospital system negotiators. Sharp and United Nurses Association of California/Union of Health Care Professionals declared a public blackout on terms of the new three-year contract after reaching a deal Saturday night and averting a three-day strike set to start yesterday.

A rival to the Teamsters union will get a chance to organize workers at a UPS Freight Inc. terminal in Kansas City, Kan. The National Labor Relations Board will hold a union representation election Aug. 5-7 for hourly UPS Freight workers at 3800 Kansas Ave., said Dan Hubbel, assistant director of the agency’s regional office.
