What Does a Union Cost

Educational Videos

Accuride: UAW

I Used to Believe in Unions, he says.

A good training video for employees predisposed to union loyalty. This powerful 15 minute video takes you into the lives of the union leaders and loyal employees who went on strike for 22 months, believing they were doing the right thing.

More than 430 employees struck for issues related to pay for union members working for grievances against the employer and also for issues involving employee transfers. In doing so, they passed up an offer worth more than $10 million in wage and benefit improvements. The international UAW supported the striking members…then abandoned them.

Watch as the president of the local UAW tells of suicides, broken families, and lost homes. See and hear him tell the story of how this abandonment cost his members strike benefits and, finally, the complete loss of health care coverage.

Another former union supporter says if he ever had the chance to talk to others considering a union, he would tell them to vote no. “I used to believe in unions, but not anymore.” he says, sadly.
